You may read this and think "Kim is doing this because she works for Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes."

And you would be half right.

I have been a TBCH donor since coming to work for the Children's Homes and I've seen the lives of children saved spiritually and physically at TBCH. I know children need a Christian home and a place to step away from influences that would hurt them. And I've seen people who, because of their love for God and His children, help provide these Christian homes and resources at TBCH so children can be led to Him. Joe and I believe in the ministry of TBCH.

We have experienced first-hand the mine field children and families walk through--especially children from trauma backgrounds. This is the other half of why we support "I Cared For One." As parents, we have tried the different resources we were blessed to be able to have for our children: magnet school, home school, private school, on-line school, individual counseling, in-home family therapy, church groups and camps, occupational therapy, etc. And in the process, we learned and continue to learn that these resources and more are needed to help children and families out of the pit of trauma.

Last month, our appreciation for how TBCH welcomes children in hard places with the love of Christ became as personal as it gets. Our son asked us if he could go to a residential progam for help with self-discipline. So, with his courage and after praying and researching and putting aside the way we thought life would be and God opening the door, our son is at the TBCH Boys Ranch in Millington. It's one of the wonderful Christian programs gifts to TBCH make possible.

At this time of year, TBCH usually has a fund-raising dinner to help raise financial support for children in care. Because of Covid-19, this effort now has come directly to you this year. For the next week, financial gifts can be made through this page for children at TBCH.

You may already be a TBCH donor. If so, THANK YOU for your volunteer work and gifts! Whether or not you are a past donor, PLEASE consider sending this opportunity to your Bible study class, Sunday School class, family and/or friend to ask them to help care for one child at TBCH in the name of Jesus during this week. I chose a goal of raising $7,000 with the help of wonderful people like you and those you know. I chose the amount because the number seven is a holy number. It's a big, holy goal. But it honors our immeasurable God and He will bless a child with each gift no matter the size.

"I Cared for One" is much bigger than a dollar amount or event. It is a call to each of us as spiritual warriors to help bring vulnerable children and their future generations to Christ. I would send this to you whether or not our son was in a TBCH program because all children in our TBCH residential and foster care programs statewide need your gift and time to share this opportunity that will yield a harvest FOR THE LORD.

Thank you for your service to the Lord and your friendship. May God bless you.
